Blackjack Champ Discusses Minimizing Loss by Splitting Eights

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

The worst thing that can happen to a player at the blackjack tables is to land up with a pair of eights. Although most blackjack experts and blackjack strategy charts advise players to split a pair of eights, it can still be the worst thing a player can do, especially if the dealer has a high-value card such as ace, ten, or nine.

One of the greatest advantages of playing online blackjack is that players can receive quick analyses of their gaming situation and hands. According to these analyses, if players get an eight pair and if the dealer has a high-value card, there is a chance of players losing slightly over 50 percent of every bet placed on that hand.

If players split their eights and double their initial wager amounts, they will be playing two hands simultaneously. This will minimize their losses to slightly below 45 percent of every bet they place. The only logic behind splitting a pair of eights, therefore, is to minimize losses, not maximize gains. Players who split their eight pairs will be losing lesser than they would if they did not split.

The golden rule of splitting is that it should be done only to maximize winnings or minimize losses.

Blackjack Player Wins $15.1 Million and Baffles Casinos

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Don Johnson is the name most blackjack casinos have now come to fear. This is because Johnson is a blackjack player who has won $15.1 million bringing down several casino houses. In fact, many casinos have now started politely refusing to let him play.

Don Johnson managed to beat three of the top casinos in Atlantic City at their blackjack tables and he says it was probably luck favoring him. Don Johnson confirmed his identity to the Atlantic Press as being the one who has been giving the casino industry a hard time for the past six months. In December at Caesars Atlantic City, Don cleared out $4.23 million, after which he moved on to win around $998,000 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.

Later he also cashed out $1.8 million in the next four months and then won $2.25 million in April over two nights in a row. His recent record win involves that of $5.8 million in a twelve-hour spree at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in April, which made them decide to replace one of their lead casino executives.

Don Johnson’s identity was later confirmed by several casino officials and in total he has bagged $15.1 million in winnings. Don says he has had a few losses along the way and he says most people lose because they do not have the bankroll to play, and he does.

Since casinos have started refusing to allow Don Johnson to play, he says it does not disappoint him since he can always move onto horseracing, which is part of his profession.

Mysterious Blackjack Player Cleans Out Tropicana Casino for $5.8 Million

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Atlantic City, the second largest gambling market in the United States saw a fall in its April revenues for casino gaming. The numbers are disheartening on the whole, but the worst hit was the Tropicana Casino and Resort. Surprisingly, the revenue at the Tropicana Casino did not fall because of fluctuating market prices but because of a single blackjack player who took in $5.8 million within the month of April alone.

The Tropicana Casino was apparently hit by a mysterious blackjack player who cleaned out the casino and caused a fall in the casino’s April revenue by 54% on table games and an overall fall of 20%. There is no information available on the mysterious player who won a record of $5.8 million in the month of April. Whether this amount was collected over a weekend or whether it was won over several weeks is not known.

The then chief executive officer of the casino Mark Giannantonio said that it was bad luck and confirmed these reports. Mark Giannantonio has now been fired but negates the fact that losing his job was related to the fall in the casino’s revenues last month.

Everyone would like to believe the same, and it would definitely be nice to know about this mysterious blackjack player who caused this fall.

Tracing Blackjack From Its Origins To Live Games

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

A recent news article traced the origins of Blackjack and reported that it has a great history. According to common belief is that it originated as Vingt En Un back in the time of Louis XIV and was played by wealthy Frenchmen. In the game of Vingt En Un, players could only place bets after each round and only the dealer was allowed to double. The goal was to reach a total of 21.

Initially, after the French Revolution when Blackjack came to America it faced fierce opposition from the then-US government since it was believed that gambling was corrupting the society. Hence, blackjack games were only played in small rooms, in back alleys without much public knowledge, by those who truly loved this exciting card game.

During the early 1930s, the state of Nevada legalized gaming and blackjack came out into the open. Blackjack tables were lined up in every casino on the Las Vegas strip. When played at live casinos it was easy for those who were good at math to cheat the game by counting cards and the dealer, as we have seen in the movie “21”. Today, however, the game of blackjack has evolved into live blackjack that decreases the chances of cheating and helps keep the essence of the game intact.

It is great to think of blackjack players, playing online from different parts of the world and enjoying this simple yet exciting game of cards. Today, players can try live online blackjack games at sites like Guruplay, one of the premier online casinos in Europe offering live blackjack games every day of the week.

Blackjack Bill May Give Rhode Island Its First Casino

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

A Blackjack bill that was introduced by William San Bento is now making its rounds in the state of Rhode Island. The bill will also casino games like blackjack and a few others and if the bill is passed, Rhode Island will end up seeing its first casino very soon.

Blackjack and other casino games will be introduced in the Twin River slot parlor that is based in Lincoln. This blackjack bill is unlike any of the other gambling bills moving around and allows for “state-operated casino gaming.” Also, the bill is very specific about permitting it at the Twin River casino alone. This will give Twin River a monopoly of the casino industry in Rhode Island.

As of now the bill will permit: “all table and casino-style games played with cards, dice or equipment, for money, credit or any representative of value including, but not limited to roulette, blackjack, big six, craps, poker, baccarat, pai gow, any banking or percentage game.”

Although, the state of Rhode Island has other casinos like the Newport Grand, it is the Twin River Casino that will be authorized. Twin River will be able to provide a lot of jobs to the people but will still be running a monopoly. “Such an expansion would allow for 650 new jobs, $65 million in new economic activity and would help to mitigate likely impact of casino gambling in Massachusetts,” stated Twin River.

Best Blackjack Casino Hotels in the World

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Blackjack players are known to be extremely astute, greatly qualified and challenging hotel casino guests. Hence, casinos like the Hilton Warsaw, Petana Casino, Iberostar Dominicana and the Bellagio try to provide special facilities and better games to cater to them.

Initially, casino management only needed to provide a gaming table, drinks, snacks, cards decks and dealers to attract a good sized blackjack audience. Today, to be blackjack player friendly, the casino and hotel needs to be located in a right place and should have all the services that a normal hotel can provide.

Globally speaking, a predominant number of hotels like the Dorint Maison, Hotel de Paris, Ibiza Gran, Palace Luzern and Casino Loutarki bear a floor that is exclusive for casino games like blackjack; most of which have at least one blackjack table. Some of the best blackjack packages can be found in places were gambling is popular like Monte Carlo, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore and also in Ibiza, Luzern and Warsaw.

These blackjack hotels are marketed in magazines and on television where blackjack players get to enjoy blackjack games and a gamut of other relaxation facilities. These casinos are complete sellouts with Michelin starred restaurants, cultural exhibitions, art displays, spas, beauty clinics and music shows by reputed artists. Blackjack Players Becoming Aware of the Advantage Of Splitting Hands

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Blackjack players need to be aware of the importance of splitting their hand when at the table. One of the best moves to make in Blackjack is to split aces and 8s. The Splitting rule allows the player to play both hands individually; for instance, when a player ends up with two aces the best thing to do is to split them. There are quite a few good reasons to do so, and one of them is that there are more ten value cards in the deck than any others and it is also good for a player to have a total of 11 instead of 12, and splitting aces gives the player two 11s.

After incorporating ties into the game splitting a hand gives a player 60% chance of winning with each individual hand – which is just 40% chance of loss. Even if the dealer plays a higher card, it will make not much of a difference to the odds of winning. If the dealer has a 6, then the player gets a 67% chance to win. If the dealer has a face card, the odds of winning are still 54% for the player with split hands.

And hence, it is important to rely on strategies and probabilities when it comes to a game like blackjack. Counting cards is not the only way to win. Players who are good at math probabilities and can figure out their own odds will also do well with this game.

Maine Racino Needs to Introduce Blackjack Games To Be called a Casino

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

The blackjack casino industry is one that has fierce competitors and those who do not upgrade themselves usually do not survive. Hollywood Slots is the only racino in the entire state of Maine, since it offers entertainment in the form of racing tracks as well slot machines.

Hollywood Slots is now facing an end, unless it legally upgrades its status to a Casino and for doing so it needs to include blackjack and poker into the current racino. Hollywood Slots faces fierce competition in the form of the Oxford County Casino which offers a variety of games including blackjack.

Most blackjack players in Maine are open to this change of the racino into a casino as it will only boost the local economy. Maine’s lawmakers are faced with many such legislatures and others include a proposal to introduce racinos in Biddeford and Washington Counties and to allow non-profit organizations to easily access the gambling market. Maine’s lawmakers do not appear to be very happy to see the spread of the gambling industry in their area and such decisions are always fiercely debated depending on the popularity of the proposal.

Once Hollywood Slots becomes a casino, it will have a fair chance against the Oxford County Casino.
