Improving Your Chances of Winning at Blackjack Tables

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Expert blackjack players are quite aware that several factors are responsible for winning a game of blackjack. Before sitting at a blackjack table, players must choose the best blackjack variant and the best gaming conditions. Smart players always choose a casino that offers the most player friendly gaming conditions.

The following are a few tips to help players choose the most favorable blackjack gaming conditions. The best blackjack variants are those that use single or double decks and the best blackjack casinos are those that do not use continuous shuffling machines. The most player friendly blackjack variants are those that offer late or early surrender options, double down options after splitting a pair of cards, and re-splitting options. The ideal blackjack variants are those in which the dealer has to stand on soft 17.

Next, players must master basic blackjack strategy, which is nothing but knowing exactly how to play one’s hand. If players learn to implement proper blackjack strategy, they can lower the house edge by at least 1 percent.

Players can use several betting strategies, but some blackjack experts recommend the progressive betting strategy, or in other words, increasing one’s bet size whenever one wins and do flat betting whenever one loses.

Blackjack Players Use Hand Signals and Other Tricks to Win

Friday, August 17th, 2012

Blackjack is a fun and exciting game to play; it is also highly lucrative and if one were to observe the current gambling trends, blackjack and tables games like poker have picked up and almost doubled in popularity over the past few years.

Ever since the movie “21” was released, blackjack enthusiasts have become more interested in beating the casino at its own game. Today, many blackjack players use tricks to win at the game and the casinos have tried to close in one these to eradicate cheating. One method of cheating as in the movie 21 is the use of hand signals.

However, some casinos now require players to learn the use of particular hand signals to indicate to the camera what they want from the dealer. Since the use of uniform hand signals will prevent any possible scope for misuse and cheating, this has come to be useful.

For instance some blackjack players swipe their hands in certain ways to indicate to their partners at the table whether to play safe or to ask for another card.

Sometime the dealer will move very fast at the table and this allows casinos to gain an edge over the player. However, players who are unnerved by this rapid play can opt to slow signal and this will cut the speed.

Dang Brothers Use Blackjack Card Counting Techniques to Win Millions at Blackjack

Monday, July 16th, 2012

The Dang brothers, who are of Vietnamese origins, have become millionaires by gambling online. Both brothers are somewhere in their twenties, but they already know everything there is to know about card counting. Normally, card counting is applied to blackjack and casinos have trained their officials to spot and shoo away card counters from their blackjack tables.

However, the Dang brothers have decided to apply card counting techniques to poker. They place extraordinarily large bets and win at least 55 percent to 60 percent of the time. They started playing online poker when they were engineering students in 2004, and so far, they have earned a total of $15 million playing online poker alone.

They began their unusual career with a slim bankroll of $200. Although they quickly lost their bankroll, they learned things the hard way and soon made their online poker fortune. Speaking about their experiences, the brothers say that the number of fish in the ocean is rapidly declining these days, making it difficult to play online poker.

They also happen to be among the large number of professional poker players affected by the unfriendly online poker laws in the US and the shutting down of top online poker rooms in the US. The brothers had to move to Canada in order to continue playing poker, but they are frequent visitors to Las Vegas and Macau. Possibly because they have already made millions playing poker, they are now planning to retire.

Blackjack Card Counters Targeted By Casinos

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Blackjack card counting has always posed a threat to Casino’s but the last couple of months have turned the heat back on card counting. While it is still considered legal in most places, blackjack card counting is not encouraged by casino managers.

A number of clever and quick witted individuals who have learned the art of card counting visit the blackjack tables and often walk away with huge sums of money in less than 24 hours. Books like “Bringing Down The House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas For Millions” reveal strategies of how one can have luck on their side as they play the tables.

Casino managers have to always be on the lookout for those who engage in blackjack card counting. However, the main reason for blackjack card counting to be immediately prohibited is when electronic devices are used for card counting.

Manual card counting requires a lot of intelligence, patience and practice. It is not difficult to spot a blackjack card counter and hence a number of land based casinos use high tech surveillance cameras to detect blackjack card counters. Most casinos also subscribe to Griffin Investigations which provides casino managers with a large database of card counters including blackjack players who have been blacklisted, their names and other personal information that enable them to be spotted quickly.

So, while blackjack card counting might be gaining more popularity, it is also being tackled by the Casinos to ensure that there rules are followed at all times.
