Tuesday, November 13th, 2012
The mixed ruling issued by an appeals court for an MIT Blackjack Team member has given rise to several questions on how casinos deal with card counters once restrictions imposed on them are lifted.
The ruling is related to Laurie Tsao, who was labeled as an “advantage gambler” by Caesars Entertainment Casino and asked to leave the casino five times on grounds that she was trespassing. Caesars, however, continued offering her free rooms and invited her to accept a free room in Las Vegas during the NCAA basketball season, a move that sent her back to the casino and led to her subsequent arrest in 2008.
While the appeals panel agreed with the ruling of a lower court and dismissed Laurie’s complaints that she was wrongly arrested and that the police officer who arrested her and the casino that demanded her arrest had both violated her constitutional rights, the appeals court reversed the ruling.
The gambling laws of Nevada give casinos the right to eject card counters from their premises, and a card counter who refuses to leave can get punished. However, the court ruling takes into consideration a casino’s treatment of card counters after the ban restrictions are lifted.

Casino Affiliates, a forum for gamblers and blackjack players revealed that Facebook was asking for $10,000 a month for any and all fan pages related to or promoting gambling. What’s more, the forum also explained that Facebook, a firm established on the stock-exchange had indeed set a $30,000 limit for gambling ads.
As of now, Facebook is making a large amount of money out of the gambling ads such as the ones for online poker, online blackjack and other online casino games. The firm also makes money with ads related to sports betting.
Recently, Facebook has seen the profit in real money online gambling and wants as much money it can make out of the industry. Facebook has sent letters and emails to all gambling related fan pages and casino bonus pages informing them about the fee, but so far no one has paid.

Blackjack Tips For Amateur Players
Thursday, November 8th, 2012
Blackjack is a game that is a good balance of skill and luck unlike poker which requires far more skill and strategy on the part of the player. Players who try their luck at blackjack should keep in mind a few simple tips when placing bets.
Blackjack players should always monitor their bets to make sure that they do not over bet or under bet as a small bet can end up growing into large proportions depending on how you play the game. Therefore it is essential to keep a close eye on your bets. Players must also realize that the game depends largely on the luck of the draw. As the cards are dealt, the entire game can change depending on what card the dealer places in front of you. Players who are not prepared to risk their bankroll bets should not play these games.
When players get a hand of two deuces, they should be careful how they play it. Ideally, players are advised to split their deuces especially if the dealer is holding any card from two up to seven. Players will then be able to use two hands which in most cases will be valued at two.

Hungary Bans Slot Machine Games Outside State-owned Casinos
Friday, October 26th, 2012
Hungary banned all slot machines that were operated outside its three state-owned casinos. The government passed this law a day after announcing that it wanted to protect poor and underprivileged Hungarians from gambling-related problems.
A gambling bill draft was submitted to the Parliament, but the commission had to rewrite it because of its poor quality. The proposal was almost unanimously voted into law on the morning of Tuesday, possibly breaking the world law-making record.
Slot machine operators are now required to return their licenses in 15 days. Meanwhile, the gambling industry in Hungary is worried about the new law as it feels that banning slot machines will force people into gambling illegally. Besides, around 10,000 people will lose their jobs because of this new law.
The new law also applies to promotions. Companies that offer prizes in the form of promotional games will now have to pay heavy taxes. The law prevents the people of Hungary from wagering real money on casino games such as poker and blackjack at offshore online gambling sites. Operators are not permitted to operate online casinos in Hungary.
The only options left for Hungarian players are lottery games and bingo games. They can also bet on sports at state-owned betting shops.

GOP Platform Could Hurt Nevada Economy
Monday, October 15th, 2012
Nevada political leaders and gaming firms believe online gaming legislation would benefit the state’s economy. According to recent polls, they are concerned that the GOP platform could cause considerable damage to the state’s economy.
Richard Velotta of Vegas Inc said the state has made considerable progress towards legalizing online gaming. Lawmakers’ efforts to legalize intrastate gambling can help create jobs and lower the state’s deficit. However, the state has fewer than 3 million citizens. Velotta argues that isn’t enough to considerably benefit Nevada’s economy.
Experts argue that Nevada is depending on a federal bill that would legalize online poker. A federal bill would enable gaming firms in Nevada to enter into compacts with other states. That would improve the scalability of their businesses in a way that everyone would benefit. That won’t be possible if the Republican Party successfully blocks any bills that would legalize online poker at the federal level.
Experts continue to debate the impact online poker will have on Nevada’s existing casino industry. Many casino owners such as Sheldon Adelson appear concerned that online gaming would threaten their businesses. However, some experts believe that legalizing online gaming would actually help the casino industry.
They hypothesize that many players will start off playing online. They feel these players will eventually yearn for a more personable experience and visit one of Nevada’s casinos. Regardless of how online gaming will impact the casino industry, most experts expect it will have positive implications for the economy as a whole.
Gov. Sandoval said that he isn’t concerned with his party’s stance on online gaming. Sandoval believes Nevada will be able to move forward with its plans for online gaming even if federal lawmakers decide to stop a bill from moving forward.
