Tracing Blackjack From Its Origins To Live Games
June 21st, 2011 by OBO-admin
A recent news article traced the origins of Blackjack and reported that it has a great history. According to common belief is that it originated as Vingt En Un back in the time of Louis XIV and was played by wealthy Frenchmen. In the game of Vingt En Un, players could only place bets after each round and only the dealer was allowed to double. The goal was to reach a total of 21.
Initially, after the French Revolution when Blackjack came to America it faced fierce opposition from the then-US government since it was believed that gambling was corrupting the society. Hence, blackjack games were only played in small rooms, in back alleys without much public knowledge, by those who truly loved this exciting card game.
During the early 1930s, the state of Nevada legalized gaming and blackjack came out into the open. Blackjack tables were lined up in every casino on the Las Vegas strip. When played at live casinos it was easy for those who were good at math to cheat the game by counting cards and the dealer, as we have seen in the movie “21”. Today, however, the game of blackjack has evolved into live blackjack that decreases the chances of cheating and helps keep the essence of the game intact.
It is great to think of blackjack players, playing online from different parts of the world and enjoying this simple yet exciting game of cards. Today, players can try live online blackjack games at sites like Guruplay, one of the premier online casinos in Europe offering live blackjack games every day of the week.

June 14th, 2011 by OBO-admin
A Blackjack bill that was introduced by William San Bento is now making its rounds in the state of Rhode Island. The bill will also casino games like blackjack and a few others and if the bill is passed, Rhode Island will end up seeing its first casino very soon.
Blackjack and other casino games will be introduced in the Twin River slot parlor that is based in Lincoln. This blackjack bill is unlike any of the other gambling bills moving around and allows for “state-operated casino gaming.” Also, the bill is very specific about permitting it at the Twin River casino alone. This will give Twin River a monopoly of the casino industry in Rhode Island.
As of now the bill will permit: “all table and casino-style games played with cards, dice or equipment, for money, credit or any representative of value including, but not limited to roulette, blackjack, big six, craps, poker, baccarat, pai gow, any banking or percentage game.”
Although, the state of Rhode Island has other casinos like the Newport Grand, it is the Twin River Casino that will be authorized. Twin River will be able to provide a lot of jobs to the people but will still be running a monopoly. “Such an expansion would allow for 650 new jobs, $65 million in new economic activity and would help to mitigate likely impact of casino gambling in Massachusetts,” stated Twin River.

Blackjack players are known to be extremely astute, greatly qualified and challenging hotel casino guests. Hence, casinos like the Hilton Warsaw, Petana Casino, Iberostar Dominicana and the Bellagio try to provide special facilities and better games to cater to them.
Initially, casino management only needed to provide a gaming table, drinks, snacks, cards decks and dealers to attract a good sized blackjack audience. Today, to be blackjack player friendly, the casino and hotel needs to be located in a right place and should have all the services that a normal hotel can provide.
Globally speaking, a predominant number of hotels like the Dorint Maison, Hotel de Paris, Ibiza Gran, Palace Luzern and Casino Loutarki bear a floor that is exclusive for casino games like blackjack; most of which have at least one blackjack table. Blackjack Players Becoming Aware of the Advantage Of Splitting Hands
May 30th, 2011 by OBO-admin
Blackjack players need to be aware of the importance of splitting their hand when at the table. One of the best moves to make in Blackjack is to split aces and 8s. The Splitting rule allows the player to play both hands individually; for instance, when a player ends up with two aces the best thing to do is to split them. There are quite a few good reasons to do so, and one of them is that there are more ten value cards in the deck than any others and it is also good for a player to have a total of 11 instead of 12, and splitting aces gives the player two 11s.
After incorporating ties into the game splitting a hand gives a player 60% chance of winning with each individual hand – which is just 40% chance of loss. Even if the dealer plays a higher card, it will make not much of a difference to the odds of winning. If the dealer has a 6, then the player gets a 67% chance to win. If the dealer has a face card, the odds of winning are still 54% for the player with split hands.
And hence, it is important to rely on strategies and probabilities when it comes to a game like blackjack. Counting cards is not the only way to win. Players who are good at math probabilities and can figure out their own odds will also do well with this game.

Maine Racino Needs to Introduce Blackjack Games To Be called a Casino
May 26th, 2011 by OBO-admin
The blackjack casino industry is one that has fierce competitors and those who do not upgrade themselves usually do not survive. Hollywood Slots is the only racino in the entire state of Maine, since it offers entertainment in the form of racing tracks as well slot machines.
Hollywood Slots is now facing an end, unless it legally upgrades its status to a Casino and for doing so it needs to include blackjack and poker into the current racino. Hollywood Slots faces fierce competition in the form of the Oxford County Casino which offers a variety of games including blackjack.
Most blackjack players in Maine are open to this change of the racino into a casino as it will only boost the local economy. Maine’s lawmakers are faced with many such legislatures and others include a proposal to introduce racinos in Biddeford and Washington Counties and to allow non-profit organizations to easily access the gambling market. Maine’s lawmakers do not appear to be very happy to see the spread of the gambling industry in their area and such decisions are always fiercely debated depending on the popularity of the proposal.
Once Hollywood Slots becomes a casino, it will have a fair chance against the Oxford County Casino.

Win At Blackjack By Learning The ABC’s and D Of Blackjack
May 11th, 2011 by OBO-admin
John McWhinnie, a resident of Britannia who has been playing blackjack for more than forty years decided that he is tired of watching people lose thousands of dollars in the game. As a result he made up his mind to write a book about the dynamics of blackjack; he titled his book “The ABC’s and D Of Blackjack.” This book does not talk about winning the game but about enjoying the game.
John McWhinnie claims that blackjack is the only game that gives players an edge to win, if they have done their homework and have the required control and discipline.
The book: “The ABC’s and D Of Blackjack” talks about blackjack in four sections A, B, C and D.
A is for Attitude, and John McWhinnie’s advice is not to play the game with the attitude of breaking the bank but of being relaxed even if you should lose a little money.
B is for Bankroll, and the author states that blackjack players should play at lower-stakes tables if they are bringing less money, and not try to play at the bigger tables and lose it all in one time.
C is for consistency for increasing bets on losing and raising bets while winning, while D is for discipline. According to John McWhinnie, having discipline is to have a plan before starting a game at the blackjack table. This book is meant for blackjack players who want to win by knowing the dynamics of the game.

Ukraine Restricts Blackjack Games in an Attempt to Cut Down Problem Gambling
May 3rd, 2011 by OBO-admin
Ukraine is currently taking steps to curb problem gambling and has extended this to impose restrictions on blackjack gaming. The Ukrainian Parliament has proposed to restrict the problem of gambling believing that anything in excess is poison.
The increase in gamblers and blackjack players both online and in land-based casinos has got the government worried and hence they have decided to put forth this kind of enforcement to control gambling. People thought to be gambling addicts will be forced into psychiatric hospitals and they will be able to get back their civil rights only if they are able to prove that they are free of this addiction.
In Ukraine, gamblers who spend a lot of time at online casinos or at land-based casinos will soon be considered as addicts who jeopardize their financial stability and get themselves and others into trouble. Such players will be considered as violators of a Civil Code.
On one hand, this might be good for the people, but on the other hand, it is definitely bad for the people who are involved in the gambling business. While it is surprising that the people have not questioned as to the government restricting them on spending their own money.
Although blackjack and other games are popular in Ukraine, players there do not use much of the blackjack strategy in their games and hence most of them end up losing a lot of money. Players in Ukraine may be better advised to play blackjack online instead of running the risk of being classified as gambling addicts.
