August 29th, 2013 by OBO-admin
All casinos belonging to Sun International organize the Black Diamond Tournament annually, and the finalists of this event get the opportunity to play blackjack in Sun City Casino. This year, the finals of the annual Blackjack Diamond Tournament were held on June 28, challenging the seven finalists to win a grand prize of one million rand.
Rob Dalton, gaming marketing manager for Sun International, welcomed the guests, and this was followed by a stand-up session from Kagiso, a local comedian and film producer. When the formalities were over, the finals of the annual blackjack event began.
While some of the finalists took the event lightly, some appeared tense and serious. The house rules were first explained, after which the game began. The finalists raised bets to increase their chip stacks, and after 20 rounds were played, Fernando Duraes of The Royal Swazi Sun claimed that he had the biggest stack.
Fernando Duraes had won the annual blackjack event in 2009 too. When journalists asked him why he took part in the Black Diamond Tournament for the second time, he said that he did so because he loves visiting Sun City Casino as it is his favorite casino and he always has a good time there.

3:2 Blackjack Games Become Scarce in Las Vegas
August 2nd, 2013 by OBO-admin
Finding good 3:2 blackjack games in Las Vegas is quite challenging for blackjack players. Most Las Vegas casinos offer 6:5 blackjack games because of their higher house edge according to onlineblackjack.com’s las vegas chart.
This does not mean that blackjack players will never find 3:2 blackjack games, but the minimum bet for 3:2 blackjack games is $25 per game. On the other hand, the minimum bet for 6:5 blackjack games is either $10 or $15 per hand.
Las Vegas has eight Caesars Entertainment casinos, and for several years, they were noted for offering more 6:5 blackjack games than any other Las Vegas casino. But today, even MGM Resorts offers more 6:5 blackjack games. Things have changed so much that players rarely get a 3:2 blackjack game for a minimum bet of $10 per hand.
Caesars Palace has the worst blackjack offerings in Las Vegas. The casino pays 6:5 for blackjack, but players can double their bets only if they have 10 or 11. This increases the house advantage by at least .2 percent, which is not at all profitable for the players.
Some of the lesser known Vegas casinos still offer 3:2 blackjack games. For instance, players will still find 3:2 blackjack games for $10 per hand at El Cortez.

Why Blackjack Players Prefer 3:2 Games
July 30th, 2013 by OBO-admin
A casino that pays 6:5 for blackjack has three times a bigger advantage over the player than a casino that plays 3:2 for the same. Quite understandably, blackjack players do not like that.
Blackjack players who are playing at casinos offering 3:2 have a slight edge over the house. However, it is important for blackjack players to understand that their advantage over the house depends entirely on their skills and level of expertise.
Most blackjack players avoid casinos that pay 6:5 for blackjack, but these are players anxious to make some money. Recreational blackjack players, who play for fun alone, hardly care about matters such as house advantage.
Casinos paying 6:5 for blackjack have an extra advantage of 1.5 percent over their customers, which means that it greatly builds up casino revenue at the cost of players. This is the reason casinos offer 6:5 blackjack games.
One of the simplest strategies for blackjack players, who want to make some money, is play 3:2 blackjack only. Whenever players play 6:5 blackjack games, they are literally giving away 1.5 percent of their wagers to the house. If players must play 6:5 blackjack games, they can cut their losses by implementing proper bankroll management techniques.

Blackjack Dealer Not Discriminated Against, Rules Court
July 26th, 2013 by OBO-admin
The West Virginia Supreme Court has upheld a lower court ruling that a Madri Gras Casino did not discriminate against an overweight blackjack dealer.
Andrew O., who weighs 540 pounds, had sued the Madri Gras Casino, which had employed him for two months in 2010 before firing him.
Andrew has a medical certificate showing that he has been suffering from obesity ever since he was 12. Moreover, he also had arthritis.
Court documents say that 22-year-old Andrew worked part time at the casino and was required to button his shirt at the wrists and tuck it inside his black pants, but was fired because his weight made it difficult for him to do so.
But the casino provided him special facilities such as a separate break area and a blackjack table with a wheelchair.
Andrew had complained that the casino had discriminated against him because of his weight, but a local court ruled that the casino did not discriminate against him, but had “legitimate and non-discriminatory reasons” to fire him. The Supreme Court upheld that ruling, stating that the West Virginia Human Rights Act does not specifically protect obese people. It also pointed out that the casino had provided special facilities to make life easier for Andrew.
