VODEC to Organize Blackjack Run for Charity
The American Legion Riders have announced a blackjack run on June 8 for the benefit of the American Legion and the Vocational Development Center. Those interested in taking part must register between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on June 8.
VODEC Services Development Assistant Michelle Nelson says that this is the third edition of the blackjack run, which has already become very popular among participants. She said that the Legion Riders are sponsoring it for the first time.
Participants will take the southwest Iowa route and stop at places such as Griswold, Oakland, Mineola, and Emerson. The run will conclude at 6:00 p.m. at the Quaker Steak and Lube. Players will draw two cards at each stop and will be rewarded with 30 points if they get blackjack. If they do not, they can either hold their cards or request another card. If they bust, they will not get any points, but if they get lesser than 21, they will receive an equal number of points. The players who score the most will get a special prize.
The blackjack run will include events such as door prizes and raffles. Those interested can visit vodec.org or check out facebook.com/vodecinc or call Daryn at (712) 328-2638.
