Study Reveals Blackjack Players Less Prone to Problem Gambling
Blackjack players are less prone to gambling addiction, states a study conducted by a University of Sydney team comprising addiction experts and psychologists. While studying various levels of harm caused by addiction to casino games, the team found that blackjack was the safest online casino game.
The team interrogated a number of gambling addicts to determine the causes of problem gambling. According to the study, not even 1 percent of problem gamblers said that they got addicted to playing blackjack. On the contrary, 85 percent of the respondents said that they were taking treatment addiction to no limit poker and sports betting.
The study also revealed a relationship among drug abuse, problem gambling, and alcoholism. The likelihood of getting broke while playing poker increased by 15,000 percent in case of those who played poker under the influence of drugs or drinks than those who played when sober. Almost all punters taking treatment said that they had placed extra large bets when drunk.
According to the study, the primary cause of self-damaging behavior was mixing drugs and alcohol with sports betting, no limit poker tournaments, horse betting, and lottery. The study found no relationship between addiction and wagering on blackjack games.
