Blackjack Bill May Give Rhode Island Its First Casino
A Blackjack bill that was introduced by William San Bento is now making its rounds in the state of Rhode Island. The bill will also casino games like blackjack and a few others and if the bill is passed, Rhode Island will end up seeing its first casino very soon.
Blackjack and other casino games will be introduced in the Twin River slot parlor that is based in Lincoln. This blackjack bill is unlike any of the other gambling bills moving around and allows for “state-operated casino gaming.” Also, the bill is very specific about permitting it at the Twin River casino alone. This will give Twin River a monopoly of the casino industry in Rhode Island.
As of now the bill will permit: “all table and casino-style games played with cards, dice or equipment, for money, credit or any representative of value including, but not limited to roulette, blackjack, big six, craps, poker, baccarat, pai gow, any banking or percentage game.”
Although, the state of Rhode Island has other casinos like the Newport Grand, it is the Twin River Casino that will be authorized. Twin River will be able to provide a lot of jobs to the people but will still be running a monopoly. “Such an expansion would allow for 650 new jobs, $65 million in new economic activity and would help to mitigate likely impact of casino gambling in Massachusetts,” stated Twin River.
