History of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas
The Stratosphere, reaching 1,149 feet, towers above the Las Vegas Strip. Guests can travel up to the 109th floor to view Sin City from the observation deck atop this well known Vegas icon. Numerous options are available for guests who want to take in the view including the Big Shot, which provides the opportunity to fly from the 113th floor up 160 feet on a shot of compressed air to the deck.
The casino of the Stratosphere covers 80,000 square feet offering a wide range of gaming options. Entertainment choices are also extensive including the topless production Brite as well as numerous other shows.
Guests can choose from a wide ranging of dining choices geared toward satisfying every type of appetite including the restaurant, Top of the World, which provides 360 degree views of Vegas. Guests who are looking for something a bit more down to earth can enjoy Roxy’s Diner.
The Stratosphere was completed in 1996 at the north end of the Strip. Renovations were made in 2001 totaling $1 billion and completing a 1,000 room second tower. Today, the Stratosphere offers 2,444 guestrooms and suites.
Insanity the Ride, is the second highest thrill ride in the world, reaching up to 900 feet.
