History of the Las Vegas Hilton
The Las Vegas Hilton is operated as a joint venture between Whitehall Street Real Estate Funds and Colony Capital. The hotel offers 3,174 hotel rooms and is the largest Hilton Hotel in the world. The property covers 64 acres including a 100,000 square foot casino. The Last Vegas Hilton currently has the largest sports book in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Hilton offers a wide range of amenities and entertainment options including Star Trek: The Experience, the Shimmer Cabaret and the Showroom and Menopause, The Musical. Barry Manilow also performs permanently at the Las Vegas Hilton.
The hotel was constructed in 1969 and originally opened as the International Hotel. At the time it was the largest hotel in the world. Barbara Streisand performed on opening night. Elvis Presley followed Streisand’s performance with 58 consecutive sold out shows. When Presley played in Vegas he resided in the penthouse suite right up until his last performance in Vegas in December, 1976.
Several restaurants are located throughout the hotel including Benihana, an award winning establishment. Other amenities include a large unusual shaped pool, Jacuzzi, health club and spa offering various types of massages and services as well as a full service salon.
